How to Interpret Gods Word Part 1

16-ChapterSix-BiteSizeBible02
Some think that if God is the author of the Bible, then the Bible has to be very difficult to understand because God is difficult to comprehend. According to this kind of thinking the Bible cannot be simple because God isn’t simple. But such logic does not take into account God’s infinite ability to make the complex simple and the problematic doable.

The Bible is Comprehensible Because it is a Revelation.

The Bible is understandable because it is a revelation; therefore it is not veiled. God has chosen to make Himself known, and He has also chosen to make known truth that could not have been known outside of His choosing.

The Lord had a clear objective when He had men to sit down and write His word. He wanted to reveal his plan for mankind. If He is to reveal, He must make it simple enough to understand. God would be contradicting Himself to make a book by which to judge us and not make it understandable.

The Bible States it is God’s Will That it Be Understood.

The Bible says it is God’s will that men understand it. In Deuteronomy 29:29 Moses said, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” What God has chosen to reveal to us He has done for our sakes. He wants us to obey His revelation. Therefore obedience necessitates understanding. You cannot obey what you do not understand is expected of you.
