How to Interpret Gods Word Part 1

In Psalm 19:7-8 David wrote, “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.” David says, in Psalm 119:130, “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” The Apostle Paul speaks of Timothy as a child who understood the Bible in 2 Timothy 3:15: “and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

The notion that the Bible is such a book of mysteries, out of the grasp of human minds, is a lie that keeps many a man from entering a land of bounty and delight. You must believe that the land is yours, given to you by promise of One who cannot lie.

Reasons Why the Bible is Not Understood.

There are a couple more reasons why the Bible is not understood.

Man Refuses to Understand.

The first is man refuses to understand. Men’s hearts are not open to God or His word. Thus, they cannot hear what He has said. This is Jesus’ point in Matthew 13:15: “For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.”
