This is why a true Christian will be different. He must be different. God’s honor is at stake. God has promised to do a radical internal work likened to a heart transplant. The effect is a brand new motivation for life beats within the Christian. It is upon this new heart that God writes his law and places His own Spirit. He says, “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”

Holiness is a characteristic of the divine life of Christ within us. The real believer in Christ will be different. No person trusting Christ remains unholy. They will begin to live like Christ.

There are several practical indicators of this holy principle being placed in us.

   1. The fruit of the Spirit begins to grow in us.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:22-24)

The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the very personality and character of the Lord Jesus Christ. As you examine each of these nine fruits, you should notice they are a description of Jesus as we see Him in the Gospels of the New Testament. Each one is a reflection of the character of the Lord Jesus.
