How to be Filled with the Holy Spirit

That is exactly what the promise of the Spirit is in the New Covenant. Not only would believers be indwelt by the Spirit, but all would have the Spirit poured out upon them. And not just Jews, but all flesh, meaning all nations. There are no ethnic barriers to receiving the Holy Spirit. To reinforce this fact, Joel continues by stating that both sons and daughters would receive, showing no gender barrier. And he says old men and young men would both receive, showing no age barrier. Even servants and slaves would receive the Spirit, which meant no economic or social barriers. In the New Covenant we would have one great Mediator, and He has promised to pour out the Holy Spirit on all who believe.

The Holy Spirit was experienced in the Old Testament just as we experience Him today. The only difference is the percentage of believers who experience Him today, few versus all.  Now if this is true, then we must ask one question, “Are we experiencing as much of the Holy Spirit as were those Old Testament mediators who had received the power of the Holy Spirit?”  If this is the age of the fullness of the Holy Spirit, why then are so many of us lagging behind the Old Testament believers in the experiencing of the power of God? Why are we not walking in the joy, love and power of the Holy Spirit as David, Moses, or Elijah walked?
