Or what about certain mathematical laws? Intuitively don’t we know that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line? Did anyone need to explain the concept of a straight line, circle, or point? It’s true we learned what to call these objects in school, but the concepts were already there instinctively. Even simple arithmetic such as 1 + 1= 2 is something very logical, yet that logic was within our understanding without having to use a scratch pad or calculator to deduce.
The Knowledge of God is Innate
In the same way the knowledge of God is intuitive within every person. God created us. He made each member of our bodies. He made us to have a heart, brain, eyes, hands, etc. He also installed on our human hard drives the awareness of God. It is imprinted upon us, as is our DNA. The Bible tells us the truth of God’s reality is within us all; however, we suppress that knowledge for unholy reasons, and eventually swap it for other gods.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. (Romans 1:18-23)
