Once you have asked, thank the Lord, expecting to receive. Paul uses the word reckon to describe how faith is exercised in the believer. It is a realizing, a considering that it is done. “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:11). This is not talking about feeling but believing God must keep His word to you.
Lastly, repeat the process. Ephesians 5:18 says, “but be filled with the Spirit.” The tense “be filled” is present. Present tense in the Greek is no different than in English. In this verse it means: “Keep on being filled with the Spirit.” So, we are to continue to repent, yield, and trust the Lord for control by the Spirit of the Living God.
This is your birthright as a newly born child of God. Do not live beneath your inheritance. Desire and believe all that God has promised to give. This is the way to victory in your war against sin, the devil, and the flesh.
