3. Make application.

We understand that some cultures, including biblical cultures, greeted each other with kisses. At the same time in some cultures such a greeting would be offensive. It is not the method of greeting that God is concerned about. Rather he desires Christians to love each other and demonstrate their love in culturally acceptable ways.

These are just a few general rules that will help you begin to study and rightly divide the Scriptures. Two extremely good books that share similar information is How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth by Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart (which I mentioned in chapter 6) and Kay Arthur’s How to Study the Bible.
